Vanessa Meehan, one of our Special Children, has reached the ripe old age of 21!

To mark this great occasion she has invited all her SOFT friends to help her celebrate her birthday in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee, Co Kerry on Saturday 20th June 2009 at 9pm sharp….

Vanessa and her family would love to see you all there so come on down to the Kingdom and help make it a night to remember for Vanessa.

Theresa would appreciate if you could let her know if you will be attending in order to confirm numbers for the hotel.

This year we have decided to add to the selection of SOFT Ireland Christmas Cards. Our current range will still be available but we would like our members, young and old, to use their artistic talents to create alternative designs.

The competition is open to all SOFT members, families and friends and you can enter as often as you like. Prizes include vouchers for Smyths Toystore and Lifestyle Sports. There will be a winner and runner-up prize awarded for the chosen design in each of the following age groups….

Up to 6 years
7 – 10 years
11 – 14 years
15 – 18 years
Over 18 years

Please print your name, age, date of birth and address on the back of each entry and send them to….

Closing date for entries is 31st July. Winners will be notified by post and the winning designs will be posted on the website. The cards will be on sale at the AGM in November and from nominated committee members. So get your ideas onto paper and sent them in. Remember, you can enter as many time as you want. Good Luck!!

The SOFT Spring Break 2009 took place over the weekend 27th – 29th March in the Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery, West Cork. A fantastic time was had by all attending. Click on ‘News & Events’ at the top of this page to view a report from one of our members, Philip Carolan.

The next general committee meeting will take place on Saturday 20th June 2009 from 10:30 to 13:30 in O’Loughlins Hotel, Portlaoise.

Sub-committees should meet/communicate before the next meeting and give feedback of any decisions made to the general committee.
