The 2012 Spring Break will take place on the weekend of 23rd/24th/25th March in the Lakeside Hotel, Killaloe, Co. Clare.

All proceeds from the climb will go to SOFT Ireland in memory of Elaine Fagan who’s first anniversary occurs the same weekend. Donations can be made on the day or you can contact Nicola Foley for sponsorship cards. If you have a pay-pal account you can donate here through the SOFT website.

The Keeper Climb is not just a great fundraising event but also a chance to catch up with old friends, make some new ones and to burn off the last of the Christmas calories! So get training and hope to see as many of you there as possible!

I know that Christmas can be a very happy and special time for small children with the excitement of Santa and all the gifts to come, but for some of us who have lost children it can also be very sad. I hope you will all light your SOFT candle this year in memory of our children and remember your friends in SOFT that are feeling much the same way as you are. That’s why SOFT is such a wonderful group.

I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead for myself and the new committee and look forward to meeting each and every one of you in 2012.

This year we have 10 new designs and they are being sold in packs of 10, 1 of each design for €7.50 or two packs for €12.00. P & P is €1 extra.

As you can see below the new cards range from the more traditional to fun designs. On the back of each card is a small piece explaining the work of SOFT Ireland and our contact details. The idea of the ‘blank’ cards is for you to make more personal cards to send out…  Get the children to colour them in to make each one unique, put a family picture there, if you’ve had a new baby why not put their picture there to celebrate baby’s first Christmas.. the possibilities are endless..

The Mycharity.ie website allows people to make a donation(either a once off or regular monthly payments), create a fundraising page and sponsor fundraisers. The website is easy to use and fundraisers can e-mail friends, family, co-workers etc with their own personal message. Donors log on to a page dedicated to the charities fundraising and sponsor friends by credit or debit card.

Olivia and Peter Phillips have generously donated the full annual subscription fee for SOFT Ireland to register with Mycharity.ie in memory of their son Peadar. We really appreciate their contribution and hope that members will consider using the service during the year.

Phyllis McCrory has set up a fundraising page on mycharity.ie to raise funds for SOFT Ireland. Phyllis’ daughter Dearbhla was born on 29th October 2010 with Edwards Syndrome. She lived for 1 hour and 6 minutes. A friend of hers, Adrian Leonard, is running in the Dublin City Marathon on 31st October to raise funds for SOFT Ireland.
