Autumn Leaves

We often talk about Autumn when the nights start to draw in and temperatures start feeling cooler.

There are two equinoxes every year on 23rd September and 20th March – when the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal. Astronomical Autumn begins on the 23rd September and it ends on the 22nd December. The meteorological calendar has the first day of autumn as starting the 1st September and ending on the 30th November.

When lighting an Autumn candle our thoughts and prayers are with our special children

The Falling of the Leaves

W. B. 1865 – 1939

Autumn is over the long leaves that love us,
And over the mice in the barley sheaves;
Yellow the leaves of the rowan above us,
And yellow the wet wild-strawberry leaves.

The hour of the waning of love has beset us,
And weary and worn are our sad souls now;
Let us part, ere the season of passion forget us,
With a kiss and a tear on thy drooping brow
